Maddalena Ghezzi – vocals, compositions
Ruth Goller – bass, vocals, compositions
Against the backdrop of climate change, "Dolomite" describes the journey of a water drop in a changing mountain landscape. Ghezzi and Goller are both closely connected to the Dolomites and incorporate four languages into their work.
Goller and Ghezzi share their love for the dolomites, which also constitutes the starting point of their artistic collaboration. In four languages - English and the three local languages, German, Italian and Laddin -they follow the changes the landscape is facing trough global warming, described from the perspective of a waterdrop´s trip trough mountains in movement...
"Dolomite" is the 5th release of the "Minerals" series, a narrative experiment aiming to move beyond the obsession with individual protagonism and instead tell the story of a community grappling with climate change. Ghezzi, considering herself a collector of stories, sees each "Mineral" as a chapter in a larger collective narrative. The creative approach is childlike, naive, and intuitive, contrasting with a system that often demands conformity.
The goal is to create a continuous album, a narrative that unfolds over time and is shaped by interaction with an evolving community. "Minerals" is conceived as a safe space to explore fears related to climate change and as a means to promote collective action and artistic collaboration.
Each "Mineral" is recorded in different locations chosen by collaborators to capture a variety of ambient sounds. The first four releases have been the EPs "Amethyst," "Halite," "Opal," and "Emerald." Ghezzi keeps a diary of each collaboration and plans to publish an anthology of writings and a compilation once the "Minerals" project is completed.
The Dolomite project is sponsored by Lamunt und Vaia
