Director Lubitsch is known for his witty and cheeky comedies. In "The Oyster Princess", filmed in Germany in 1919 before Lubitsch had to emigrate to the United States due to his Jewish origins, he shows the pomposity and rudeness of American billionaires and their spoiled children.

Kettmaier's compositions and arrangements for this quintet synchronize "on sight" with the film - the method of accompanying live music for silent films applied at the time.
